It was difficult to put language around what was happening last year when we learned we’d be inside for the foreseeable. I wanted to document what was happening but it wasn’t clear what was happening or what to photograph. Nothing very visible was going on outside and although the days were repetitive, internally I was feeling much more than usual. I made these pictures in the first few weeks of the initial lockdown in Amsterdam to express my feelings about a new relationship that was developing with my home, my locality and myself.
